It totally amazes me how much laundry 3 women can produce. It is not like we are 3 little boys who are rough and tumble and dirty from sun up to sun down. Here are the jeans that I washed this morning, I think they accumulated overnight. One of us wears uniforms to school, one wears dresses and skirts to work...and the denim is all different, skinny leg, straight leg, boot cut, long for wearing with heels, short for wearing with flats. Boy do the jeans manufacturers have it right. I wouldn't trade my girls and their fashion desires for anything in the world, but on laundry day, I might. Hope your day is good. Remember it is Friday, enjoy your family and let me know what your plans for the weekend are. Are you scrapping? Are you doing something fun with family? Whatever it is you decide to do, do it to the fullest and enjoy. Maybe do it 3 times!!!!

Purple, GREEN, and Gold
Denise's prompt for the POD was GREEN. Yeah, I could have gone and figured out some recycling picture. Yep, I could have taken an outdoor picture as we still have green leaves and grass. But I decided to introduce each and every one of you to the decadence of King Cake. This wonderful treat, which shows up during Mardi Gras and decorated with the colors of Mardi Gras (Purple, GREEN, and Gold), is the beginning of the end of many a New Year's diet. This cake is in celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany (Little Christmas, Jan. 6) when the wise men arrived bearing gifts to the Christ Child, hence "King's Cake". The tradition of the King Cake is thought to have begun with the French settlers around 1870, who were actually carrying on a Twelfth Century French tradition. Inside each cake is a tiny baby (now plastic, but once could have been porcelain or gold). There is a Carnival Krewe (Twelfth Night Revelers) which uses a King Cake (and a special bean) to determine it's queen from among the debutantes of the court (it is actually planned and the deb/parent's know ahead of time). In most other households/parties, the person who "gets the baby" gets to host the next King Cake party. Tradition has it that the cakes were round to portray the circular route taken by the Magi to confuse King Herod. The Mardi Gras colors actually have meaning, Purple (Justice), Green (Faith), Gold (Power). The cake was originally a sweetened yeast bread covered with a poured sugar topping and sprinkled with sugar crystals in the MG colors. Nowadays, you can find just about any concoction you want, filled(chocolate, lemon, Bavarian cream), cinnamon (traditional), pecan praline, and more. At my house we are traditional, which is why I couldn't show the whole cake, it has already begun to be enjoyed. Happy Mardi Gras everyone.

What's Wrong with this Picture?
I love my dryer. It does what I want it to, DRY my clothes. It essentialy does it in a timely fashion. In fact that is what i would expect it to do...DRY, as it is a DRYER. Why then is there a setting for LESS DRY? Would I put in items to make them less dry? This has always bothered me? I find it HUMORous.

PERFECT Afternoon
This afternoon could not have been better. I finished rounds before 3pm, in time to head to Sonic for Happy Hour and get an ice cold Diet Cherry Coke for the ride home. I didn't have to negotiate numerous radio stations with 2 teenagers as I was the only one in the car. And the weather was beautiful, as you can see on the dashboard. Hope everyone else had a PERFECT afternoon.

Reflection
The prompt from Denise today is ME. Because I spend alot of time in the car (work, taxi driving, errand running), I also spend alot of time looking at myself in the rearview mirror. When I do, am I seeing someone who LEARNED something today? Did I learn just a little patience? Did I learn from previous mistakes? Did I learn a new idea? Did I learn to slow down and enjoy the gifts of family and friends? What do you reflect on in the rearview mirror?

Word for 2009
In the process of setting up a blog for the first time do step up to the challenge of POD, I have come up with my word for 2009. LEARN. This will cover all that I want to accomplish in 2009. Learn to blog, learn to really use my camera, learn to be patient, learn to spend just a little time each and every day to take care of myself (the challenge to be a healthier me). So my friends, my word is LEARN. What is yours?
